As a teacher I can see the way using Google Docs could save a lot of wasted time and energy. It could save confusion with trying to find which document you are looking for that is attached to which file, and if it has been edited yet or not. Not to say that it is bad or pointless to attach a document to an email, but if one is working with a group on a project or something that multiple people are involved in then Google Docs might be a better option.
