ProfilerPRO reflection

In regards to the ProfilerPRO survey, I thought it was interesting to see what my opinion of myself was, but at the same time I am not sure it was accurate. There were many areas of the technology survey that I filled out as developing. I think in one sense I will always be developing these things because technology is always developing at a faster rate than I am. Some of the areas that I labeled as developing include recognizing the benefits of technology, identifying technology available in schools, planning lessons using electronic resources, engaging in technology-based opportunities for education use, using technology productive tools to complete required task, identifying safety and health issues related to technology, and identifying and using assistive technologies for special needs.
There were a couple of areas I saw myself proficient in and those were differentiating between appropriate and inappropriate uses of technology for teaching and learning, and planning and teaching student-centered learning activities that apply technology tools and resources. I see myself as capable of working technology into my lesson plans, but not having technology be my lesson plan. For a math class we always had to have weblinks to appropriate websites that could be useful in enhancing our lessons, but they were the extra, the fun, or added on learning things.
There were also plenty of things that I labeled either unable or basic. There are many areas of technology that I need to strive to improve so that I can be a more effective teacher. Taking a survey to find out what areas I need to work on was a helpful reminder for me to continue to seek more knowledge not only in the areas that I struggle with in technology, but also in all the different subjects of life.
