Learning to Change Video

Technology, technology,
what is your purpose here?
It seems you help, it seems you hurt,
At all times it seems you're near.

Some good things you've left behind are,
Helping kids with special needs,
Encouraging kids to want to learn,
Connecting people through news feeds.

But with the good there's also bad,
Like addiction to computers,
Availability of porn is multiplied,
And social skills are more distant than commuters.

I just need to use you with some caution,
And keep an open mind,
Because then together we'll have the secret of success,
And that will be a great find!

Overall I did not like the Learning to Change video. I struggle with technology and the way that students are able to have 'great communication' without ever saying a word to each other. I do not believe it is healthy for our communities, our culture, or learning. Yes, students need to embrace technology, but I do not think it is to the extent that the video was implying.

  1. My dear creative friend, I loved the poem. And...I agree. Students and teachers need to embrace technology, but maybe not to the extent that these videos have shown. When we rely on only one thing something bad is bound to happen.
